Church group creates new life
More than 200 young people attending a summer camp in Ngaruawahia have given a Hamilton community facility an extreme makeover.
The young people from the Reformed Church of New Zealand mucked in for a day's work at the Rauwaawa Kaumatua Charitable Trust facility in Frankton's Colombo Street.
They painted the building and tidied up the grounds at the community centre.
Trust manager Yvonne Wilson said they were overwhelmed by the service of the young people.
"It feels like an extreme makeover, they're an awesome bunch of kids," she said.
The property which was gifted to the trust is 2006 was overrun with the young people happily taking part when the Waikato Times visited this week.
The project was part of a "surprise fun day out" said Marlene Van Tonder, a member on the national youth camp committee.
