'Retired' Raglan man Waikato's Volunteer of the Year
Although nominally retired, the Raglan resident works tirelessly in his community as a volunteer.
A member of the Raglan Volunteer Fire Service, Lions Club, Residents and Ratepayers Association and Community Board; he's also part of the town's Civil Defence committee and a Community Vehicle Trust driver.
Selfless seems an understatement - but now, he's finally been given official recognition.
The 63-year-old was awarded Volunteering Waikato's Volunteer of the Year in front of 250 people in Hamilton last night.
