Trio Can't Get Enough

Today's teenagers might seem pre-occupied with cellphones, iPods, and the internet, but a group of Fairfield College students have found just as much fun and fulfilment in volunteer work.

Jessica Kemp, Holly Bredin-Grey and Cassie Barr all aged 15 and in year 11 at the Hamilton high school have carried out volunteer work for various organisations in recent months, and they encouraged their peers to do the same.

The three teenagers, part of a group of six community-spirited friends at their school, collected for the SPCA at Westfield Chartwell and as part of a street appeal, helped at a Special Children's Christmas Party, were members of Students Against Drunk Driving and, as if that wasn't enough, they also worked as volunteer waitresses at this week's annual Waikato Volunteer Excellence Awards.
