About Us:
Citizens Advice Bureau Hamilton has consumer specialists and operates a consumer advisory service each day for all consumer issues. We also provide a free Advocacy service which covers issues with Work and Income, ACC, Housing and Health. We operate a legal clinic twice a week by appointment only.

Your role would involve:

  • welcoming clients to the Bureau
  • confirming their details
  • recording attendance
  • providing support to both the Legal Clinic and the attending lawyer

As you will be representing the Bureau, training is required. This includes observing how our Interviewers work, learning how we accurately record information, and understanding the way we support and empower our clients.

The Legal Clinic runs from 5.30pm to 6.30pm (sometimes it’s a 5.00pm start). However, volunteers are required to be at the Bureau from 4.45pm(ish) to assist and remain until the lawyer leave and close the office.

Due to the training and onboarding involved, we ask that applicants are willing to commit to a minimum of 12 months in this volunteer role.

Requirements:

  • Good English Language skills
  • Friendly attitude
  • Good Time Keeping
  • Ability to work without supervision

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

  • 1.5 - 2 (at the most) hours Wednesday evenings from 5pm.
  • Commit for 12 month minimum duration.
