The Hamilton Christmas Charitable Trust is seeking an experienced and visionary Chairperson to guide our team in delivering Hamilton’s iconic Christmas celebrations. This is a unique opportunity for a proven leader with strong governance expertise and event management experience to make a meaningful impact on the Hamilton community.

About Us:
Founded in 2004, the Trust brings Christmas to life in Hamilton through the Christmas Parade, the Christmas Tree Lighting Concert in Garden Place, and the city’s iconic Christmas Tree in the CBD each December. Our events are fun, family-focused, and designed to spread joy throughout the city.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight of the Trust.
  • Ensure robust governance, legal compliance, and risk management.
  • Lead and support the Board of Trustees to deliver outstanding events.
  • Drive innovation to enhance our annual events and community impact.
  • Represent the Trust with key stakeholders, sponsors, and the wider Hamilton community.

Requirements:

  • Significant governance and leadership experience, ideally as a Chair or senior board member.
  • Proven track record in overseeing large-scale events, including logistics, budgeting, and volunteer coordination.
  • Strong understanding of fundraising, sponsorship, and community engagement.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Passion for Christmas and creating memorable experiences for families in Hamilton.

Time commitment:

  • Commitment to monthly meetings (with a possibility to attend it online)
  • Attend one meeting per month, typically held on the first Tuesday, starting at 5:15 PM (date and time can be flexible)
  • Meetings generally last around 1.5 hours.
