Training Workshop: Rethinking Volunteering

Navigating the changing landscape of volunteering

Wednesday 6th May 9.00am – 12.00pm

Volunteering has changed significantly over the past few decades but many organisations are still recruiting and engaging volunteers as if nothing has shifted. Our communities are more diverse, people’s time is more pressured, and expectations of volunteering look very different than they once did.

This practical and thought-provoking session helps organisations understand how changes in population, lifestyles, and motivations are reshaping volunteering, and what that means for the way you attract, support, and retain volunteers.

Participants will explore:

  • Who today’s volunteers are and how this differs from the past
  • What modern volunteers are looking for, including flexibility, purpose, and connection
  • Where your organisation is now, and where the biggest opportunities lie for you
  • How organisations can respond, adapt, and stay relevant

This session is ideal for organisations wanting to future-proof their volunteer programme, better connect with their community, and create volunteering opportunities that work for people today.

Location: Pukete Neighbourhood House, 43 Church Road

Cost: $20 for Volunteering Waikato members | $30 non – members (an invoice will be sent for payment)

N.B:

This session is part 1 of a three-part training series designed to support organisations to adapt to changing volunteering needs and strengthen long-term volunteer engagement. Sessions may be attended individually or as a series.
