Kaainga Taupua, operated by Ara Poutama Aotearoa, provides a reintegrative supported accommodation service for men with complex needs. Our goal is to work with our residents towards developing greater independence, helping them to build the skills they need to transition back to their whanau or a suitable address in the wider community. Our focus is on building everyday capability, fostering connection, and supporting residents as they develop the confidence and skills needed for successful reintegration into the community.
We are seeking dedicated volunteers who are passionate about helping others grow, and who are keen to provide prosocial role-modeling. Much of our mahi centres on developing core life skills such as cooking, cleaning, communication, planning, time management, and goal setting. With the support and involvement of our staff, volunteers may help facilitate group sessions or work alongside individuals to support personal development at a comfortable pace.
In addition to developing general life skills, we’re also seeking volunteers to engage with residents towards specific and meaningful goals – such as preparing for employment, building work‑readiness skills, practicing interview techniques, exploring new hobbies & skills, or developing healthy routines and habits.
If you are empathetic, patient, and community‑minded, and you believe in the potential of people to change and thrive, we would love to welcome you into our volunteer whanau at Kaainga Taupua. Your time, skills, and presence can make a genuine, lasting difference to people and our communities.
