Te Rongopai Community Trust (Good News Community Centre)

Our aim is to help meet the needs of Nawton-Crawshaw and other areas, in partnership with whanau in order to strengthen communities and their individual members.

We currently offer, free of charge, a range of programmes and services including a homework centre and learning hub to support primary and high school students in their learning during term time (3 days a week; access to laptops and tablets and internet); Job Club to support and mentor job seekers; Budgeting Courses; weekly Games and Meal; Maori Language and Culture classes (beginner and advanced groups); Flax Weaving classes; Basketball sessions; Information Hub where individuals can have access to scanning, telephone, laptops, tablets and internet, and photocopying (small charge for photocopying); facility available for hire for a modest rental; sports equipment available to borrow free of charge. Food and drink are always offered free of charge to those attending sessions. All staff have police clearance and are trained in the roles they take on.

The Hub

We require volunteers who can help us prepare a simple afternoon tea and supervise children eating, drinking, playing sports, and while on laptops. This is a great opportunity to serve and get to know our community.
