Doing the Difficult Stuff Well Workshop
23rd September 9.30-1.00pm
Working with volunteers can be incredibly rewarding — but it can also come with its challenges. Volunteers bring their own experiences, expectations and ways of working, and sometimes things don’t go as smoothly as we’d hoped.
Having the confidence to navigate those moments well is an important part of creating a positive volunteer experience and a healthy team culture.
This workshop will equip participants with practical tools and confidence to navigate challenging volunteer conversations, understand what may be influencing volunteer behaviour, and build stronger relationships.
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
- Recognise when a volunteer needs support, guidance or a courageous conversation.
- Understand the factors that influence volunteer behaviour and engagement.
- Respond with curiosity, empathy and confidence in challenging situations.
- Apply the BRIDGE framework to lead effective volunteer conversations.
- Build stronger relationships, healthier team cultures and better outcomes for volunteers and the organisation.
This workshop is presented in conjunction with Community Waikato.
