Empower young people to build confidence, leadership, and life skills through adventure, learning, and fun. We’re looking for volunteer leaders in the community to support tamariki through weekly meetings, activities, and occasional camps. You’ll:

Encourage young people to try new things

  • Work alongside a supportive team
  • Be part of a worldwide movement

We provide free training, including:

  • First Aid
  • Outdoor skills
  • Leadership development opportunities
  • Partner discounts
  • The chance to make lasting friendships and a real impact in your community

GirlGuiding NZ includes:

  • Pippins (5–6 years)
  • Brownies (7–9.5 years)
  • Guides (9.5–12.5 years)
  • Rangers (12.5–17 years)

When you apply, we’ll discuss which section best suits your skills, interests, and availability.

Requirements:

  • Volunteers must be 18 years + and are required to complete police vetting.
  • Full training is provided free of charge, including ongoing programme training, with additional access to First Aid and occasional outdoor skills courses.
  • Having your own vehicle and a valid driver’s licence is helpful, but not essential, we’re happy to discuss alternative options if needed.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

  • This role requires 2–3 hours per week during school terms to plan and run activities.
  • Occasional extra time (2–4 hours) for preparation or camps on weekends
