Volunteer Ten Pin Bowling Coach – Special Olympics Waikato

We’re looking for volunteer ten pin bowling coaches to join Special Olympics Waikato and support a great group of athletes in a fun, inclusive environment.

This role is about encouraging participation, building confidence, and helping athletes develop bowling skills, coordination, and social connections while being part of a supportive community programme.

Your tasks as a volunteer coach:

  • Support weekly bowling trainings and competitions
  • Encourage participation, teamwork, and personal achievement
  • Help athletes build skills and confidence at their own pace
  • Create a welcoming, supportive, and enjoyable environment
  • Work alongside other volunteers, families, and club members

Volunteers play a vital role in helping athletes experience the joy, confidence, and connection that comes through sport.

Requirements:

  • A friendly, encouraging attitude
  • Interest in bowling and community sport
  • Reliability and good communication skills
  • Ability to support and connect with athletes at different skill levels
  • Previous coaching or bowling experience is helpful, but not essential
  • Willingness to complete volunteer onboarding or training if required

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

  • Weekly sessions on Mondays 6pm onwards at Sky City Bowl and Social
    • Approx. 1.5 hours per session
    • Occasional competitions throughout the year (to be discussed further with volunteers)
