Every hour you volunteer in our shop helps Hospice Waikato continue providing free specialist palliative care to people and their whānau. Your time supports the shop and the team, keeping things running smoothly so the organisation can focus on caring for those who need it most.
At our Lake Road site, we have a variety of volunteer roles and warmly welcome people with different skills, interests, and availability. You’ll join a friendly, supportive team where your contribution is valued, whether you’re preparing linen, sorting donations, or helping in the shop on busy days.
Current Volunteer Opportunities:
Linen Team Volunteers
- Wash, sort, iron, and prepare linen for the shop floor
- Initial training on Monday or Wednesday, ongoing shifts ideally on Fridays (~3 hours)
- Work as part of a dedicated linen team of around 3 people within the wider store team
Donations Volunteers (Warehouse) – Monday Mornings
- Assist with unloading and loading donated goods
- Physically active role, teamwork required
Sunday Volunteers – All Areas
- Support retail and operational areas across the site
- Ideal for those available on weekends
If none of these roles suit your schedule, we encourage you to get in touch, there may be other ways to contribute and share your skills.
Volunteering in our shop is more than just tasks, it’s a chance to be part of a team that keeps the shop running smoothly, supports Hospice’s vital work, and helps the community we care for thrive.
