Garden Volunteer – Cambridge Community Garden

Cambridge

We’re a small community garden in Cambridge looking for locals who want to get involved, whether that’s regularly or just when you can. No experience needed, just a willingness to muck in.

On any given day you might be sowing seeds, planting out seedlings, pulling weeds, pruning back growth, or helping keep the place tidy. There’s always something to do, from improving the soil and rotating crops, to mowing the lawns or just keeping things running nicely.

Some people come to learn, some come for a bit of fresh air, and others just enjoy the company. It’s pretty relaxed, you show up, do what you can, and be part of something that benefits the wider Cambridge community.

If you’ve been meaning to get out more, meet a few people, or do something practical that actually makes a difference, this is a good place to start.

Requirements:

  • Reliable volunteers who can come regularly and get to know the garden through the seasons
  • Ability to work independently once familiar with tasks (with support provided)
  • Wednesday and Saturday mornings are our main group sessions (also when we stock the Sharing Shed)
  • All abilities welcome — tasks can be adapted to suit different people
  • A positive, can-do attitude and willingness to help where needed

Time commitment:

  • Wednesdays & Saturdays: 8:30am – 12:00pm (main group session, including Sharing Shed restocking)
  • Around 1–2 hours per week minimum
  • Happy for you to commit to more hours if you’re keen to be more involved in growing and sharing fresh produce with the community
