We’re looking for a small team of volunteers to help bring local businesses, schools and community organisations together to support local whānau at Christmas. This could suit people who know the Cambridge community, have local connections, enjoy meeting people or simply have some time to contribute during the lead-up to Christmas.

As part of the team, you could:

  • Connect with local businesses to seek donations or sponsorship.
  • Approach schools about toy and food collection drives.
  • Build relationships with community groups and organisations.
  • Share ideas and local knowledge about ways to involve the community.
  • Follow up with businesses and organisations that are keen to support.
  • Help coordinate the support and donations received.

You don’t need to do all of this. We’re looking for a small team where people can contribute their own skills, experience and connections.

Requirements:

  • A friendly, confident communicator who enjoys meeting new people.
  • Someone with enthusiasm, initiative and a passion for helping others.
  • Comfortable approaching businesses, schools and community organisations.
  • Organised, reliable and able to work with a team as well as independently.
  • A positive ambassador for Cambridge Social Services and our values.
  • Previous fundraising, sales or community engagement experience is a bonus, but not essential.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

  • 1–2 hours per week
  • Flexible days and times
  • A little extra time may be needed in November
  • Team members can share tasks to suit their availability
