Community Garden Working Bee Volunteer – Te Awamutu

Te Awamutu

Looking for a way to get out, meet people and do something useful in your community? Join our monthly working bees at the Te Awamutu Community Food Forest. It’s a relaxed, practical way to spend a couple of hours outdoors while helping look after a community space.

Tasks vary throughout the year and may include:

  • Planting and weeding
  • Mulching and pruning
  • Harvesting
  • Composting
  • General garden maintenance
  • Helping with small improvements around the site

You don’t need gardening experience. We’ll show you what needs doing and work alongside you. Whether you’re an experienced gardener or simply enjoy being outdoors and lending a hand, you’re welcome.

The Food Forest provides free food, learning opportunities and a welcoming space for the Te Awamutu community. Your time helps keep it growing and available for everyone to enjoy.

Come along, meet some local people, get some fresh air and lend a hand for a couple of hours.

Requirements:

  • No previous gardening experience required.
  • Be willing to work outdoors and get your hands dirty!
  • Wear suitable clothing and closed-toe footwear.
  • Bring a water bottle and sun protection as appropriate.
  • Children and young people are welcome with appropriate adult supervision.
  • Volunteers will receive a brief safety orientation and guidance on the tasks.

Time commitment:

  • 2 hours per month
  • 3rd Wednesday of each month
  • 9:00am–11:00am
  • No need to attend every working bee
