Volunteer Bakers – Cambridge

Cambridge

Organisation StepUp

About Step Up
Step Up is a new Cambridge Community Organisation supporting people experiencing loneliness and social isolation. It provides a welcoming space where people can come together, chat with others in similar situations, build connections and enjoy having somewhere to go.

About the role

  • Step Up is looking for volunteer bakers in Cambridge to help provide baking for its weekly Monday morning tea.
  • Whether it’s homemade biscuits, a cake, muffins or another favourite treat, volunteers can choose what they would like to bake.
  • Baking is for a group of approximately 8–12 people.
  • All baking can be prepared at home and simply dropped off at Bridges Church in Cambridge by 9am on Monday mornings.
  • There is no need to attend the group, unless you would like to.
  • We hope to build a small team of volunteer bakers who can take turns providing baking each week, sharing the commitment across the group.
  • A gluten-free option would also be appreciated where possible, but this is not essential.

As Step Up is currently operating without funding, donated baking helps provide a little something extra for people attending the group.

Requirements:

  • Enjoy baking and be happy to prepare homemade biscuits, cakes, muffins or other treats.
  • Be based in Cambridge or nearby.
  • Be reliable and able to drop off baking by the agreed time.
  • Follow good food hygiene and safe food handling practices.
  • A gluten-free baking option would be appreciated where possible, but is not essential.

Time commitment:

  • Baking for approximately 8–12 people.
  • Baking to be prepared at home.
  • Drop-off required by 9am on Monday mornings at Bridges Church, Cambridge.
  • Depending on the number of bakers available, volunteers may be placed on a shared roster.
