Hospice Waikato is seeking two experienced, compassionate volunteers to join our Bereavement Feedback Team. This is a valued role that supports bereaved families/whānau while helping Hospice Waikato learn from their experiences and continue to improve the care we provide.
Your tasks as a bereavement feedback volunteer:
- Phone bereaved Next of Kin around 3–4 months after the death of their loved one
- Gently check in on how they and their whānau are coping
- Invite feedback about the care and support received from Hospice
- Let families know about ongoing bereavement support if they need it
- Record feedback accurately using a provided template
These conversations can be meaningful and sometimes emotionally challenging. Full training, clear guidance, and ongoing support and debriefing are provided.
Because of the sensitive nature of this role, we are looking for people with one or more of the following:
- A professional qualification or experience as a health professional
- Counselling, psychology, psychiatry, or chaplaincy/spiritual care experience
- Previous work experience in hospice or palliative care
Please note: Due to the nature of the role, those who have experienced a recent personal bereavement may require a stand-down period before taking part.
