Treasurer – Home Based

Home Based

Are you a lover of multicultural events, music, and dance, and a supporter of creative people and youth?
Waikato Rocks Trust is a charitable organisation that promotes the creative work of our people, especially the music and dance of Waikato youth. Our journey began in 2010 at a rural radio station in Raglan and later expanded to Free FM 89.0 and Raglan Community Radio. Since then, we have organised several events, including producing 32 weekly New Zealand music episodes for SKY Television at no cost.

Some of the community events and activities we run:

  • Christmas at the Lake
  • Huntly Art in the Park
  • Tunes of Waikato (Waikato Youth Music)

We are seeking a Treasurer to join our team of five Trustees and a Manager. We are looking for someone with a good heart, a desire to support community organisations, and a willingness to give back to the community.
The Treasurer will support us with tax returns, financial statements, and making payments in a timely manner. Previous experience would be an advantage, but it is not essential.
We are a team of friendly, approachable people, and you will find it easy to step into our world.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Maintain accurate financial records, track income and expenses and ensure proper bookkeeping systems are in place.
  • Process and schedule timely online banking payments.
  • Maintain good communication with the team and stay responsive via email, text, messenger for timely decisions and approvals.
  • Attend online Board of Trustees meetings once every 4 months.
We welcome all age groups but expect a level of maturity for this Treasurer role.
If you are keen, please email us on: logan@waikatorocks.co.nz about who you are and why you want to join us. Or send a CV, if you have one.

Requirements:

  • Experience in preparing financial statement, tax returns, bookkeeping, and making online payments.
  • Dependable, can complete tasks promptly.
  • Keeps connected with us via email, text message or messenger, etc.

Time commitment:

  • Our activities this year are just two events: one in December and one in March. Therefore, payments to service providers would be within these periods.
  • Board of Trustees meetings will be held once every four months, mainly via video conference.
  • Signatures and approvals via email and phone.
  • Meetings would be 30 minutes to an hour (no longer)
  • If possible, we can have one or two coffee and snacks meetings! We can also cover your transport costs.
