Visitor Experience Host – Putaruru

You’ll be working alongside our supportive Front of House team to keep the museum running smoothly and the atmosphere bright.
This is a role for someone who loves variety, one minute you’re sharing a fun fact, the next you’re helping a visitor navigate our exhibits.

What you’ll do:

  • Be the friendly first face: Say hello, welcome visitors in, and help them get a sense of what’s on and where to start.
  • Help people find their way: Answer questions, offer directions, and make sure everyone feels comfortable exploring.
  • Share what you know: Pass on a fun fact or two when you can, and jot down the tougher questions for our curatorial team.
  • Pitch in where needed: Help with admissions and gift shop sales — we’ll show you how it all works.
  • Work alongside a great team: Keep the entrance looking welcoming and be part of the easygoing flow of the day.

Requirements:

  • Confident communicator: You’re comfortable speaking with visitors and have a good level of spoken English.
  • Friendly and approachable: You enjoy meeting people and helping them feel welcome.
  • A good listener: You’re happy to take note of visitor questions or feedback when needed.
  • Comfortable with technology: Willing to learn our POS system and handle simple payments (we’ll show you how).
  • A team player: You like working alongside others and pitching in where needed.

Time commitment:

  • Join our team on a regular basis: once a week or once every two weeks.
  • Be part of a rotating roster that fits around your schedule.
  • Shifts available during the week and on weekends, when the museum is at its liveliest.
