About Us:
Te Whare o Te Ata (Fairfield/Chartwell Community Centre) is a welcoming house, established in 1986, that exists to serve the local Fairfield & Chartwell communities. It provides a range of opportunities for individuals and whaanau.

This is a unique opportunity to take ownership of a meaningful project that will strengthen how our organisation engages and supports volunteers.

We are looking for a motivated and organised individual to design and establish a simple but effective volunteer management system. This will involve working closely with our team to understand our needs, building a structured volunteer database, and helping us create a reliable pool of volunteers for both regular and ad hoc support.

This role is ideal for someone who wants to gain practical, New Zealand-based experience in coordination, systems thinking and stakeholder engagement.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Meeting with staff to understand volunteer and operational needs
  • Designing a simple system to organise volunteer information
  • Creating and maintaining a volunteer database (Excel or Google Sheets)
  • Matching volunteer skills and interests with organisational needs
  • Supporting outreach and engagement with current and potential volunteers
  • Establishing processes that can be sustained beyond the initial 3 months

Requirements:

What We Are Looking For:

  • Strong organisation and communication skills
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently
  • Confidence using Excel or Google Sheets
  • A practical mindset – able to turn ideas into simple, working systems
  • Reliability and consistency over the 3-month period

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

  • 5 hours per week (for 3 months)
