Client Interviewer – Hauraki (Paeroa, Ngatea, Waihi)

As a CAB Client Interviewer, you will assist people from all walks of life with a wide range of enquiries. These may include housing and tenancy, employment, consumer issues, government services, family matters, finances, community services and many other everyday concerns.

Enquiries may be received face-to-face, by phone, or online/email. You will learn how to use CAB’s information systems and community resources to research enquiries and provide clients with accurate, relevant and up-to-date information.

Our role is not to tell people what to do, but to listen, help them find reliable information, explain the options available to them and support them to make their own informed decisions.

Training and guidance are provided as you develop the skills and knowledge needed for the Client Interviewer role, including how to use CAB’s information and resources to assist clients.

Requirements:

  • Friendly, approachable and a good listener
  • Respectful and non-judgemental
  • Comfortable talking with people from different backgrounds
  • Comfortable using a computer and happy to learn new systems
  • Able to communicate clearly and work well with others
  • Understands the importance of keeping client information confidential
  • Culturally aware and respectful
  • Interested in helping people find information and understand their options
  • A Ministry of Justice background check is required
  • No previous experience in advice or community services is needed – full training and support are provided

Time commitment:

  • One 3-hour shift per week, on a regular roster.
