St Aidan’s Op Shop is a small, affordable “eclectic treasure trove” located at St Aidan’s Anglican Church in Claudelands. It is run by a team of volunteers, sharing responsibility so no one person carries the full load. The team has extensive experience in this sector.

The manager group meets monthly to support consistency across the shop, including pricing, health and safety, and general operations.
This role focuses on:

  • Friday shop management
  • Supporting the overall development of the shop alongside other managers
  • Interviewing and placing new volunteers based on their strengths
  • Providing cover for other managers when needed (e.g. school holidays or absences)

Requirements:

Essential

  • Kind-hearted, compassionate, and respectful of the nature of this work
  • Organised, reliable, and able to take responsibility
  • Able to be hands-on while also managing and overseeing operations
  • Strong team player with experience working collaboratively
  • Able to relate well across diverse cultures and socio-economic backgrounds
  • Adaptable and comfortable working in a dynamic, changing environment

Desirable

  • Experience in retail or small business management
  • Healthy, active, and practically minded

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

  • Friday: 9:00am – 4:00 / 4:30pm (core day)
  • Additional support as needed on other days to assist and oversee the shop
  • Ability to provide cover for other managers when they are absent (e.g. school holidays, Thursdays if required)
  • Flexibility is important to support the shared management model and ensure continuity across the team
