Hato Hone St John Ambulance Support Volunteer – Hamilton

We are looking for reliable volunteers who are available on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays as needed to help keep our ambulance fleet ready to respond when the community needs it most.

As an Ambulance Support Volunteer, you’ll play a vital behind-the-scenes role in ensuring Hato Hone St John vehicles are operationally ready, directly supporting our frontline emergency crews.

In this role, you may be involved in:

  • Preparing ambulances and support vehicles for operational readiness.
  • Station administration and general support tasks.
  • Ordering supplies and driving designated vehicles.
  • Assisting with project work as required.
  • Supporting the Welfare Truck at Waikato Hospital on Friday and Saturday afternoons/evenings (desirable but not essential).

No previous experience is required—we’ll provide all the training you need. We’re looking for people who are flexible, adaptable, and keen to make a meaningful contribution to their community.

Please note: This is a non-clinical role and does not involve responding to medical emergencies.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Working knowledge of Hato Hone St John Operations preferred
  • Full NZ drivers license
  • Excellent organisation, prioritisation and planning skills
  • Reliability and punctuality (turning up on time is a big deal)
  • Friendly, approachable attitude
  • The ability to work unsupervised or equally as part of a diverse team

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

  • Volunteer on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and/or Fridays.
  • Saturday afternoon or evening availability is an advantage but not essential.
  • Flexible shifts to suit your availability where possible.
  • Regular, ongoing commitment preferred.
